Yau Wing Fung, b 1990 in Hong Kong, lives and works in Hong Kong.
Yau Wing Fung received his Master's degree in Fine Arts and Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (First Class Honours) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Yau concentrates on ink media creations and focuses on researching spatial aesthetics of landscape painting and the transition of ink spirit in current situation.
The concept of landscape painting is changing on the point of developing history and culture. "Transition Scene" as a proposition means that changing situation to express the changing scene in various situation reflecting to Yau artworks under the current trend of globalisation. "Transition" refers to the changing and moving time. "Scene" involves the reflection of mental consciousness and space. The depiction of space-time relationship will be shown in Yau paintings or three-dimension artworks by integrating the abnormal viewing format, present concept and the spatial aesthetics of landscape painting. Trying to create out of the boundary of previous landscape painting reflect the different notions and concepts between format, spatial and temporal dimension.
Yau Wing Fung held solo exhibitions in recent years such as "Inconstant Vision", "Roaming Vision in Mirage", "Looking glass". His artworks have also been exhibited in different countries, including "Wu Bin: Ten Views of a Lingbi Stone" (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), "Art Basel" (Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre), "Chinese Contemporary Ink" Christie's Auction, "Ink Asia" (Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre), "Art Taipei" (Taipei World Trade Center) etc. His artworks have been garnered by galleries, art organizations, public organizations and private collections. Yau attained some awards including Y.S. HUI Fine Arts Award, Wucius Wong New Ink Art Award, Talent Development Scholarship, Van I-Pong Traditional Chinese Painting Creative Award etc.
