ARTNET NEWS

FQM is pleased to introduce the multidisciplinary artist, Brandon Sadler, whose innovative works are featured in our current exhibition, Transcultural Dialogues: The Journey of East Asian Art to the West. While charting the artistic evolution of East Asian traditions as they spread to the Western art milieu, this exhibition also highlights American artists from diverse backgrounds who have seamlessly integrated their deep appreciation for Asian tradition into their artistic practices. This dialogue underscores the dynamic trajectory of artistic expression as it transcends cultural boundaries.

As a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, Sadler lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia and is renowned as one of Atlanta’s most prolific artists, with significant acclaim earned from his public murals, solo, and group exhibitions. Having his background rooted in graffiti writing but also having a profound interest in East Asian ink art, his practice is centered primarily on calligraphy. Using English letters to craft symbols reminiscent of Chinese characters, Sadler masterfully bridges Eastern calligraphic principles and philosophies with Western culture and artistic perspectives, creating a rich, cross-cultural dialogue.

Sadler received SCAD’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2019 for his murals in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther and his overall career achievements. Recently, Artnet News recognized Sadler as one of their top five recommended artists for the summer.

Be sure not to miss Sadler’s captivating pieces on view at Fu Qiumeng Fine Art until October 19th. These works are a testament to Sadler’s ingenious blend of African American Hip Hop culture and East Asian ink traditions, offering an engaging exploration of cultural synthesis and artistic innovation.
