In November 2023, the artwork of FQM artist Yau Wing Fung has been showcased in two notable exhibitions at the National Taiwan University of Arts and the National Taiwan Normal University Art Museum: ‘Floating Island Generation: Ink-Painting Exchange Exhibition’ and ‘Cross-Border Dialogue: Hong Kong-Taiwan Youth Exchange Exhibition,’ introducing a contemporary vision of ink painting.
Co-curated by Professor Li Zongren and organized in collaboration with the Ink Creativity Association and Zai Mo She, ‘Floating Islands Generation’ explores contemporary ink wash art from Hong Kong and Taiwan. This exhibition displays the versatility of ink wash, pushing its traditional boundaries through cross-media and interdisciplinary approaches.
‘Cross-Border Dialogue,’ curated by Professor Chen Binghong and assisted by Professor Li Zongren and Professor Zhou Jin, features over 20 contemporary ink artists. This exhibition emphasizes the reimagined aesthetics of traditional ink through contemporary methods like deconstruction and reorganization.
As one of the participating artists, Yau’s works bridge tradition with modernity, showcasing the talents of emerging contemporary artist, while reflecting social and cultural representations through the contemplation of life.
Don't miss the final week of the exhibition, ‘Illusion,’ where Yau displays his last 5-year exploration in a variety of ink art, on view through March 9th.
