A Gongbi Fan-Painting Workshop with Zhang Xiaoli

9 - 10 May 2026
Sat & Sun May 9-10. 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Fu Qiumeng Fine Art will host a special artist-led workshop inspired by Zhang Xiaoli’s playful yet thoughtful engagement with pictorial traditions.

Discover the elegance of traditional Chinese fine-line painting (gongbi) through the intimate format of silk fans.

This immersive, two-day workshop invites participants to explore the techniques and materials behind gongbi painting, including the use of mineral and botanical pigments on silk. Drawing connections to the historical exchanges of the Silk Road, the program situates artistic practice within a broader cultural dialogue—echoing the exhibition’s own crossing of temporal and visual languages.

Participants will receive step-by-step guidance in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided.

Through both exhibition and workshop, Traveller opens a space where tradition is not simply preserved, but re-performed—inviting viewers and participants alike to step into a shared stage of imagination.

Materials (silk fans) will be provided. Price: $120 per person. Limited to 10 participants per session.
