News | Brandon Sadler’s Performance at SITE 2026

The Goat Farm Arts Center

FQM is pleased to share that artist Brandon Sadler is going to present a calligraphy performance on Oct. 3rd at the SITE 2026 at The Goat Farm Arts Center, Atlanta, GA. In collaboration with musician Rocko Walker, the performance, DIFFUSION_2, will provide an immersive experience into Sadler’s Single Word Character System of calligraphy.

Brandon Sadler’s art is a crystallization of years of study in Chinese calligraphy, philosophy, graffiti writing, and text design. His Single Word Character System fuses the English alphabet with Chinese brushwork and stroke-order traditions to forge a unique visual language. Translating the practice to the genre of performance art, Sadler’s writing centers movement as a direct record of energy, extending the physical limits of that expression.

In DIFFUSION_2, Sadler will produce a 36 x 20 ft calligraphic work with a 2.5 gallon fire extinguisher filled with enamel, capable of projecting paint streams up to fifty feet, pushing the reach and force of each mark by exploring beyond the traditional tools of writing to the contemporary experimental methods.

This performance is the second in the DIFFUSION series, which the first was performed by Sadler in collaboration with Rocko Walker on Mar. 31st, 2026, at the Austin Arts Center at Trinity College, Hartford, CT. The series explores cross-cultural identity and reimagines traditional calligraphy by replacing brush and ink with an air pump sprayer and enamel paint, emphasizing flow, materiality, and transformation. This series is also a part of Salder’s ongoing series The Path of Totality, a body of work exploring storytelling, mythology, and experimental process across visual and performance practices.

SITE is The Goat Farm Arts Center’s third annual campus-wide exhibition of contemporary art, performance, music, film, installation, and experimentation, which explores new works by more than 50 local, national, and international artists across Goat Farm’s 12-acre campus, alongside live music, open studios, performances, and large-scale artworks.

The Goat Farm Arts Center is a multi-disciplinary cultural center in West Midtown Atlanta, one of the city’s largest centers for contemporary and experimental thought, practice, art, and performance. Its mission is to explore a more responsible approach to development and how property can be used to support art and culture via a self-sustaining built environment.
