Daffodil

I was fascinated by the enlarged details of the daffodil. The stamen was no doubt a kind of tentacle, tongue, or cat’s whisker. As it sought to pollinate, perhaps it had forgotten about itself. One became engulfed by its beauty as one concentrated on it: the soft, fluid form, the subtle colors of the petals, the robust body and the closed or open leaves. I merely wanted to gaze at it, appreciating the way in which the daffodil absorbed the earth’s nutrients and turned them into an elegant figuration of itself.
