Silence descends. The scenery is serene, an inviting space for lingering and contemplation. Mist and haze soften the boundaries between image and reality, dissolving the familiar into the ethereal. One drifts, weightless, into an expanse of stars. Where to next? Will you awaken to the whisper of pines, lose yourself in a sea of clouds, or continue meandering through the apertures of scholar’s rocks, searching for the next threshold into a multidimensional world?

Zhang Xiaoli juxtaposes meticulous gongbi-style landscapes with swirling abstract textures and sharp architectural contours, constructing a world that oscillates between reality and the surreal.
