35.6 x 50.8 cmHuang Shan Passages series: All of the photographic excerpts in the Huang Shan Passages series were drawn from a single 35 mm film frame of Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) in China’s Anhui province. For each work, Cherney enlarged a unique photographic detail to the point of abstraction. His goal was to evoke nature's fundamental structures and reference the classical brushwork they inspired. In some cases, Chang rotated the original images to create vertical compositions.
