A reimagined landscape, they were created in response to one cropped photo of summer at the Rocky Mountains of Colorado taken by the exhibition curator. Compositionally reminiscent of Dong Qichang’s Landscape after Wang Meng in the collection of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, one presents Chang’s mastery in traditional Chinese brushwork and the other shows his spontaneous application of transparent color washes, evoking a sense of fluidity and natural beauty that recalls and transcends the serene landscape of Colorado.
