This artwork presents a gradually liquefying, flowing spiritual world. Unlike Zhang Xiaoli's previous works, this composition abandons defined spatial boundaries, featuring matter that continuously melts, streams, and blends together. These merging elements expand throughout a constricted spiritual domain, venturing into shadowy depths. Yet amid this disarray, pinpoints of brilliance still pierce through the obscurity.
Zhang Xiaoli's recent nomadic experiences have transformed her perception of temporal and spatial dimensions. In ever-shifting surroundings, humans reshape themselves to conform to new environments; similarly, memories of past experiences persist through emotional and intellectual connections. While time gradually dulls our sensory perception, Zhang finds wisdom in ancient philosophy: "Laozi cautioned that 'The five colors blind the eye,' while Confucius advocated 'Seeing the unadorned and embracing simplicity'—teachings that guide us to discover transcendent illumination within encroaching darkness."
