Chen Duxi is renowned for his unique approach to portraying water movement, blending Western oil painting techniques and traditional Chinese ink media. His “Contemplate” series explores the organic forms and expressive quality of water through finely arranged lines, which, for the artist, signify time and motion. While often drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese landscape and figure paintings, Chen seeks to traverse beyond antiquity. By anchoring his art in an embodied relationship with nature at the present, he hopes to articulate the subtle stability of qi and the shi (momentum) that underlie the observable world. The delicate lines of Comtemplate #60 traces a carnelian stone merging out of water, with its rings and creases ripple with life; their fragmented yet organic form recalls the scientific precision in geological illustrations but expressed in rhythmic brush strokes. As lines of ink trickle across the silk screen, Chen’s phenomenological painting breathes life into a static rock, drawing the audience close to nature beyond the silk screen.

陈督兮的作品专注于捕捉运动的趋势。传统工笔画与西方油画的融会贯通让艺术家得以对“线”的表达力进行多元化的探索。他的“持颐”系列尤其注重通过线条描绘事物、指代时间，从而表达事物最自然的状态。陈督兮认为中国传统绘画中的“气”与“势”不仅可以通过仿古来诠释，更立足于画家在创作的当下以无限接近自然的状态理解画面中的对象。本次展出的《持颐 #60》用矿物颜料描绘探出水面的玛瑙。其中对线条的运用融合了地质学图示的精准和文人笔墨的气势相生。流动的线条好似为纹理赋予了生命力，流动于一块静止的石头上，追随着自然的变化和时间的流动。
