Scholartree: Michael Cherney cropped a circular section from his photograph of the tortured branches of a wintertime Chinese Scholartree (槐树/槐樹). The absence of a trunk or any defining orientation allowed Arnold Chang to embark on a metaphysical journey in which natural forms take on lives of their own.
