Wang Fangyu Chinese American, 1913-1997
44.5 x 42.5 cm
Ink Pond, belonging to Wang Fangyu's Dancing Ink series, seamlessly blends Wang's academic prowess with artistic verve. Drawing from his interpretation of the "five principles of nature" — unity, change, balance, force, and motion — Wang Fangyu's creativity is fueled by his deep scholarship based on his extensive collection of works by the seventeenth-century painter Bada Shanren. Through this fusion, Wang unleashes a dynamic inner energy that manifests in his captivating calligraphy.
