Although this cursive calligraphy adheres strictly to the traditional structures of character form, it introduces a contemporary breakthrough in its overall composition and tonal layering of ink. The two characters feicui (翡翠, “jadeite”) both contain the “feather” radical, which Wang Fangyu creatively unites into the image of four concentric circles. This gesture not only extends the flowing rhythm inherent in cursive script but also, through a geometric reconfiguration, infuses tradition with a minimalist abstract expression. The gradations of ink here serve a narrative function beyond technique: from the dense weight of dark ink to the ethereal lightness of pale washes, the transitions in tone build a sense of spatial depth that transcends the flat surface.
